Band At Guthlaxton College, Leicester

Daventry Brass originates from the 19th Century; known back then as "Daventry Band". The "Daventry and District Silver Band was formed following the amalgamation of Daventry Town, Long Buckby Town and Long Buckby Temperance Bands. Our current name, "Daventry Brass" was decided upon after an embarrassing mispronunciation of our previous name, "Danetre Brass"!

We have our own purpose built Band Hall on Waterloo Road, which we hire out to local groups to provide a place to meet and/or rehearse and an income for the band to purchase much needed music and equipment.

The band is very active throughout the year, attending and supporting local contests, as well as the annual Regional Contests, currently competing in the third section. We also play at a wide range of events, including local fetes, parties and major concerts.

The band rehearses twice a week, on a Tuesday and Friday. We are a friendly, welcoming band who enjoys making music and involving our audiences in our performances. New and returning players are always welcome and if you would like more information about joining us, please feel free to contact us.

The band serves the community throughout the year by providing music for Remembrance Day, and playing carols in local Residential and Nursing Homes, Danetre Hospital and at the open air church services around Christmas time.
